Saturn’s seven-and-a-half year transit from your Moon
Sade Sati is Saturn transiting the 12th, 1st and 2nd houses from your natal Moon — roughly seven and a half years. This finds your Moon sign, checks Saturn’s current position, and gives the dates of your current or next period.
Saturn crosses three signs. The first (rising) phase, in the 12th from your Moon, tends to affect expenditure and sleep. The second (peak), in the 1st, is felt most directly. The third (setting), in the 2nd, concerns money and family. They do not feel the same, which is why knowing the phase matters more than knowing the label.
Classically Sade Sati is a period of pruning: what was built carelessly gets tested, and what was built properly usually survives. Treating it as doom is a modern commercial habit, not a classical position.
Saturn retrogrades, so it can enter the 12th from your Moon, slip back out for a few months, then re-enter. The period is conventionally counted from the first entry to the final exit, which is what this calculator reports.
The Year Ahead Report reads your Saturn transit against your running dasha periods and the rest of your chart.
